How to Level Up Using the Catfish in Castle Crashers

"Castle Crashers" is a classic beat em up arcade game exclusive to the Xbox 360, but it also incorporates a leveling up component found in many role-playing games. Gaining experience points by fighting battles is crucial to leveling up, but if you have the right tools and patience, you can level up quickly in one easy battle.

Instructions

Find the boomerang using the cardinal animal orb. You will acquire the cardinal during your battle with a brute in the Industrial Castle level. Once you have the cardinal, go to the Thiefs Forest level. Walk to the scared perched owl and your cardinal will retrieve the boomerang from behind the bushes. Once you have the boomerang, push the Start button and select Exit to Map.

Choose Giraffey as your animal orb. You will acquire Giraffey by digging it up in the Desert level. Its special power is to help you level up faster. If you have already acquired Giraffey, go to the Blacksmith on the map and walk inside the animal ark to choose Giraffey as your animal orb.

Go to Catfish on the left side of the map. The Catfish level is located on the river.

Sit on a log or other floating object. Find a log or other floating platform before the battle begins. You cannot use the boomerang while you are swimming.

Power up the boomerang and release it behind the catfish boss. Position your character near the front of the boat, but just below it. Hold B to power up your boomerang and release it as soon as the catfish begins coming toward you after it has spit a hairball. As soon as you release the boomerang, move up slightly, aligning your character with the front tip of the boat. This will ensure that the boomerang reaches the catfishs back.

Block the catfishs punches. As soon as you release the boomerang and adjust your position to the front of the boat, the boomerang will be stuck hitting the back of the catfish while the catfish punches you. Hold the left trigger to block the punches as you rack up experience points. If the catfish successfully hits you, you will be hurled off of the floating platform and your boomerang will stop hitting the catfish in its back.

Avoid the catfishs other attacks. After the catfish finishes punching you, it will soon begin a repeated series of attacks. Avoid these attacks and wait for the catfish to spit another hairball before throwing the boomerang again. Throw the boomerang every time the catfish spits a hairball until you have defeated it. You can repeat this battle as many times as you like.
