How to Make Cheat Files for the GPSP

The PSP, or PlayStation Portable, is a hand-held video game console produced by Sony. Though it does not natively support games from other consoles, you can install an emulator on the PSP to play ROM files, or cartridge image files, from the Nintendo Game Boy Advance hand-held console. One of those emulators, gpSP, also possesses a cheat functionality that accepts GameShark and Action Replay cheat codes. In order to import these codes, you must create and import a ".cht" file with your game.

Instructions

Open Notepad and click "File" and "Save As."

Enter the exact file name of your ROM file, but change the extension to ".cht." For example, if your game file is "Final Fantasy IV Advance.gba," your cheat file will be "Final Fantasy IV Advance.cht." You will create one cheat file for each game.

Copy and paste the cheat codes you wish to use into Notepad. Modern games are not mere source of entertainment, instead these demand some knowledge to play and win. The computer created opponents fight against the gamers and eliminating them is a big deal. The gaming companies produce games cheat parts to the players so that they could thrash the terrifying enemies. These cheats are essentially the codes that are used for allowing a slip to the computer so that the player could win the game. These allow the gamers in growing to the next level by just pressing a few keys. Cheat codes are available with all genres of games. Even so, it is advised not to use them very often otherwise one can loose the excitement following playing for sometime. These can be used when a software will cause troubles in computer or freezes it. In some instances, the developers their selves provide the codes so that the players could be released to the next levels of the game. Not every person will recognize that games cheat methods are the right things to be used while playing games. They think about cheating as a dreadful trait and as a result cheat codes should not be used. However, these turn into very helpful when the gamer is not becoming any vision how to go onward while playing game. For example, one wants to jump up to other stages without finishing previous ones. The cheats turn into valuable in this case as the players do not get annoyed. Make sure each code takes up only one line. In addition, make sure there is a 1-line gap between each cheat code.

Add a header before each cheat code. The header should start with the version of the hardware you are using and end with a custom name of your choosing. For example, if you are using a code from the GameShark Version 3 and your cheat code is called "WalkThroughWalls," enter "gameshark_v3 WalkThroughWalls" for your header. For the Pro Action Replay, use "PAR" followed by the version number, similar to the GameShark formatting.

Copy your finished cheat file to the same directory as the ROM file.

Open gpSP and load your ROM. Go to the "Cheats/Misc" menu to enable or disable each cheat individually.
