FM Genie Scout 2009 is a scouting utility designed by Ukrainian programmer Eugene Tarabanovsky for use with the soccer simulation Football Manager 2009 (FM2009). It allows you to view the hidden attributes for each player and staff member on the game, as well as selecting your optimal first eleven or potential transfer targets. With basic knowledge of how to operate the tool, it can be very easy to create the best team possible on FM2009.

Click the golden soccer ball icon on the upper-left side of the screen and select "Load Game." In the window that opens, click to the saved game you wish to scout and select "Open." FM2009 saved games are usually stored in the "My Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/Games" folder. This will now load up the details of every player, staff member (including scouts, assistant managers, coaches and physios) and club in your saved game.
2Click the "Players List" menu or press "Alt" and "P" to scout players. By then clicking "Filter," you can sift through every player on the game, including those currently unassigned to the club by various metrics. Using standard FM2009 attributes of name, value, nationality and ability in various soccer styles, you can also search hidden attributes not visible on the game such as loyalty, controversy, big game mentality and sportsmanship. If any player strikes you as particularly interesting, right-click his name and select "Add Player" to place him on your shortlist. This can then be accessed by clicking the "My Shortlist" tab at the top of the screen.
3Click "Staff List" or press "Alt" and "S" to scout staff members. Again, by selecting "Filter" you can not only search through staff members by their visible in-game traits, but hidden ones such as their specific ability in each training regimen, their propensity towards mind games, the kind of tempo they prefer for their teams and how often they use the offside trap. More modern games are not simple reference of entertainment, relatively these require some expertise to play and win. The computer developed enemies fight against the gamers and conquering them is a big deal. Most of the information you can filter by is visible in-game, such as nationality, professional status and the division in which the club plays. However, you can also filter by club reputation, a hidden attribute that indicates how likely players are to sign for any given team.
5Double-click any player, staff member or team, so that you can view every single one of their attributes without having to filter. By doing this to players, you can also bring up the "Genie Report," an extended version of the in-game assistant manager reports that highlights potential weakness of any given player, as well as letting you know his current market value.
