"The Hobbit" is a platforming game based on the J.R.R. Tolkien book of the same name that was released in 2003 for the Game Boy Advance. As Bilbo Baggins, players have to jump gaps, fight enemies and use stealth to get through levels. Throughout the game you will have to find useful items needed to get you through your quest.
Getting the Walking Stick
The walking stick is the first melee weapon you will get. It is somewhat slow and weak, but it is better than nothing. The stick is difficult to aim with too, since it swings downward instead of side to side. You only need to use it on the first two levels for the weak enemies, however. After Gandalf and the dwarves visit your house at the end of the first level, go back to the Green Dragon Inn and you will find the walking stick.
Obtaining Sting, the Sword
Although the sword is really a knife it is still a very powerful weapon. Much faster than the walking stick, more accurate and boasting a wider range of attack, Sting will be your bread and butter after you get it from the Troll Treasure Cave on level two. You will find it after your fight with the giant hornet. Once you defeat the giant hornet, head back to the main cave, where you will find Gandalf and Thorin. Take the thunderclaps lying around here and go to the treasure room. Use one of the thunderclaps on the knife hanging in the upper right corner and claim your prize.
Receiving the One Ring
Used mainly for stealth, the ring will make you invisible for about 30 seconds, but it will not save you from enemy attacks. This item is only really practical on the wood elves' level. You can obtain it from Gollum in the Goblin Cave. Find Gollum by entering the room with a distinct crack in the ground. Stand on this crack and you will fall through, landing in front of a lake. The ring will be in front of you and Gollum will ask you a riddle. You will accidentally solve it and win the ring.
Finding the Music Box
You can use the music box to put animals to sleep, helping you to get by more vicious enemies like dogs. The box is obtained from the wood elves' level. Search the caverns to the northwest of the level and you will find it easily enough.
Discovering the Mithril Coat
