How to Upgrade the Grappling Hook in "Just Cause 2"

"Just Cause 2" is a role-playing action game available on multiple consoles and the personal computer. You play as Rico Rodriguez, an operative attempting to overthrow the evil dictator of Panau, Pandak "Baby" Panay. To defeat "Baby" Panay and his army of soldiers, you must employ a variety of weapons, including a grappling hook. The grappling hook is used to climb buildings, trip enemies, retrieve items from a far distance and more. You can earn and purchase upgrades to most weapons during game play, but no upgrades are available for the grappling hook. To obtain upgrades for the grappling hook, you must install a mod. A mod, short for modification, is an after-market customization to a video game. Modifications are only available for the PC version of "Just Cause 2."

Instructions

Go to the website Just Cause 2 Mods (see Resources) and review the modifications that include upgrades for the grappling hook. Click on each modification to read the description.

Click "Download" next to the modification you want to download. A pop-up window will appear.

Click "Save." A directory will open. Click on "Desktop" and click "Ok." The .zip file will be saved to the desktop.

Double-click the .zip file. An unzip program should open. If not, download and install a free unzip program such as WinZip. Click "Extract All Files." Create a "dropzone" folder by typing "C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\just cause 2\dropzone" into the destination folder bar. Click "Ok" to extract the mod files to the dropzone folder. When you start "Just Cause 2," the modification will be used.
