"Sonic Riders," released for the Microsoft Xbox in February 2006, presents a family-friendly racing experience with familiar animated characters from the Sonic the Hedgehog series. Although the title offers different features to customize your individual experience, not all of them are available from the start of the game. Players must unlock extra features by performing different tasks throughout the game.
Hero Story Mode Unlockables
Completing the Hero Story Mode will unlock five extra features. They include three playable characters: Shadow the Hedgehog, Rouge the Bat and Cream the Rabbit; two pairs of extra sneakers for Shadow the Hedgehog: Skate and Darkness; and one new audio track, "Theme of Babylon Garden." Completing Hero Story Mode will also unlock Babylon Story Mode.
Babylon Story Mode Unlockables
You can unlock several extra features by completing the Babylon Story Mode. They include one playable character, Dr. Eggman; four vehicles: Bike, Blue Star II, Magic Carpet and Egg-Rider; and two new audio tracks, "Theme of Digital Dimension" and "Catch Me If You Can."
Other Unlockable Characters
"Sonic Rider" has four separate characters that you cannot unlock through one of the story modes. Unlock Super Sonic by achieving a gold medal in every activity during Mission Mode. Unlock AiiAi, Nights and Ulala by clearing Storm's, Jet's and Wave's missions.
Hidden Racetracks
Unlock the SEGA Carnival racetrack by obtaining a gold emblem in the Heroes Cup race. Unlock the SEGA Illusion racetrack by obtaining a gold emblem in the Babylon Cup race.
Unlockable Gear
You can unlock new gear to decorate your characters, including Hang-On and Super Hang-On gear, The Crazy gear and Opa Opa gear. Unlock this new gear by successfully completing Wave's, Storm's and Jet's missions.
Playtime Unlockables
Certain characters, such as the E-10000G the E-10000R, require you to accumulate a certain number of gameplay hours to unlock. Accumulate 20 hours to unlock the E-10000G and 50 hours to unlock the E-10000R.
Unlockable Audio Tracks
Four hidden audio tracks are available in "Sonic Riders," three of which you unlock through one of the two Story modes. You can unlock the fourth track only after unlocking the hidden SEGA Carnival racetrack.
Random Character Select
If you have trouble deciding which racer to use, then take advantage of the game's random selection feature. Enter the character selection screen, hold down the "R" button for a few seconds and release the button. You'll have a random driver ready to go.
