"MapleStory": How to Edit Skill.Wz

In the multiplayer online game Maple Story, there are a variety of files in the game's folders that can alter the appearance, statistics, and behavior of almost anything in the game. These files are called ".wz files" and one of the most important .wz files for any player is the skill.wz file. That's because the "Skill.wz" file is the one that controls the appearance, power, and range of all of the attacks and abilities that all players and monsters can perform. The "Skill.wz" file can be edited either directly through Notepad or by use of external programs.

Instructions

Copy your original "Skill.wz" file and save the copy in another file before editing. This is to ensure that even if you make a mistake you can replace the edited "Skill.wz" file with the original and start over.

Open your deMSwZ program. Use it to open the "Skill.wz." We are going to be altering the properties of the Teleport skill in this tutorial, but you can change the properties of any skill using this method.

Untick every box in the deMSwZ window. Then check the box at the bottom of the list. This will open a text box.

Type "range" into the box. "Range" should be in quotes, and in all lower-case letters, as the "Skill.wz" file is case-sensitive. This will open a second box, where you should type "150", again without quotes. 150 is the natural max range of your character's Teleport ability. You can make the number larger and teleport further if you want, but it can be extremely risky as you could end up teleporting into very unfriendly territory by accident.

Select the "Process All" button when you are satisfied with your choices. Then click "Save" and save your file as Skill.wz.
