"The Sims" is a daily-life simulation game series created by Will Wright and distributed by Maxis in conjunction with Electronic Arts. If the code is followed by "!;!;!;" up to a length of 60 characters, the cheat command will repeat itself. With a patched version of "The Sims," the code "rosebud" should be entered instead of "klapaucius."

Another useful cheat in "The Sims" is one that enables the user to move any object in-game. At the cheat prompt, enter "move_objects [on/off]" followed by hitting the "Enter" key. It can also be helpful to adjust the game speed as well as the characters' free thinking levels. To set the game's speed, type "sim_speed [-1000-1000]" at the cheat prompt, selecting a numerical value between -1,000 and 1,000 to represent the pace of the game. Free thinking levels can be adjusted by typing "autonomy [1-100]" at the prompt, choosing a numerical value between 1 and 100 to represent the characters' self-sufficiency.

As with "The Sims," to access the cheat window in "The Sims 2" and its expansions, press and hold "Ctrl," "Shift" and "C." At the prompt, enter the cheat codes and press "Enter." Typing "kaching" into the window grants 1,000 simoleons, while "motherlode" earns 50,000 instant simoleons. To toggle character aging, type either "aging off" or "aging on." Typing "-w" allows for play in windowed rather than full-screen mode, while "help -all" displays a list of every cheat available. The cheat that allows the moving and deletion of items that traditionally cannot be touched is still useful. "The Sims 2" version of this cheat is "moveobjects [on/off]". "Exit" closes out the cheat prompt.

In "The Sims 3," many of the cheat codes remain the same as in "The Sims 2." The cheat prompt is still activated by holding "Ctrl," "Shift" and "C," and the "kaching," "motherlode" and "moveobjects [on/off]" codes have not changed since "The Sims 2." Electronic Arts included a fun joke cheat in the cheat list to allegedly allow llamas, "enablellamas [on/off]," but it does nothing. In another cheat, "testingCheatsEnabled [true/false]," typing "true" allows entrance into debugmode, where characters' needs can be adjusted and the mailbox becomes an easy way to change careers or lock needs. For more fun in the cheat window, "jokePlease" delivers a random joke. The code "resetSim [first name] [last name]" returns the selected character to a neutral state of safety in his home, which is especially useful for the potential dangers of the "The Sims 3: World Adventures" expansion.
