Developed by Harmonix Music, Rock Band 2 video games and accessories have revolutionized home video gameplay. Released in September of 2008 and rated "Teen" for lyrics and mild suggestive themes by the Entertainment Software Rating Board, Rock Band 2 takes the guitar, bass, drum and vocal portions of actual rock songs and puts them into playable simulations. By using Rock Band 2's Overdrive mode, players can increase their score and help them through tricky parts of gameplay.
Instructions

Hit all the white note sequences, called Overdrive Phrases, when they scroll down the screen. Match the placement of the notes with the frets on your guitar peripheral (controller) or pads on your drum peripheral. For vocal gameplay, you must hit all the yellow notes matching their pitch and tone while singing through the microphone peripheral.
2Fill the Overdrive Meter halfway to use the Overdrive function or wait until the Overdrive Meter is full to maximize your score.
3Tilt your guitar peripheral upwards, or press the "Select/Back" button to activate Overdrive.
4Activate the Overdrive during "fills," or the drum portions of gameplay when you can hit any notes without being penalized, and hit the green pad at the end to complete the sequence and earn extra points.
5Activate Overdrive with the microphone peripheral by making any loud noise or sound into the microphone.
